ICRIS 17.X.X Installation Guide
Following feedback about ICRIS update failures, DBNZ requested clarification and a step-by-step upgrade guide from Sherwin-Williams. The document below provides detailed instructions for upgrading ICRIS to the latest version.
Key Highlights:
- Before starting, ensure you back up any important data (usage records, custom formulas, etc.).
- Download the installer from the Valspar Support Website.
- Follow the step-by-step process to install SQL Server and ICRIS successfully.
- If the installation fails during the SQL Server stage, refer to Appendix 1 for troubleshooting guidance.
Note If you are updating from a previous version of ICRIS then you need to make sure you are on at least ICRIS 16.4.0. If you are not on this version at least the installation will fail.

Please follow the below steps to fix this issue.
- When the error appears click on the cancel button.
- Click yes to confirm the cancellation.
- Click on the finish button.
- Wait until the ICRIS setup wizard screen appears, then click the cancel button.
- Click the yes button.
- Now restart the installation as you would do in a new installation by double clicking on the installer icon.
- Once you get to the "Prerequistes" screen, the only option that is selected will be the “SQL Server Express LocalDB X64”. You will need to reselect the two Visual C++ options as above and click next.
- ICRIS should now install as normal
