We have a lot of important information for you this month.
ICRIS News
15.16.0 Release
Changes include:
- Added support for the new Metallic Bright Red MM9214 toner.
- Various bug fixes:
- Issues creating orders in stock management fixed.
- Importing Custom Formulas from version 15.12.0 - issues resolved.
- The ready spray button was not working for 8-149 - fixed.
Update your ICRIS version to ensure you have the latest functionality.
Online ICRIS users can update their program by clicking on System > Application Update
Dymo LabelWriter
Label Printing Issues
If your computer has recently had a Microsoft update, you may have noticed that the Dymo LabelWriter is printing blank labels. We can confirm that this is because of the recent update.
To resolve this issue, you can either:
- Install version 8.5.4 of the print driver (this will fix the issue for some users). This can be downloaded from the Dymo website by typing in 8.5.4 in the Search menu, then click download; or
- Delete the Microsoft update. This will vary depending on the version of Microsoft you have on your computer. Go to the Dymo website www.dymo.com/en-AU. Click here - indicated below - and follow their instructions.
Dymo are working on a more permanent resolution to this issue.
New Metallic Bright Red Toner
9214 metallic Bright Red Toner
Metallic Bright Red is an enhanced toner that has been introduced to the DeBeer WaterBase 900+ series for even better colour matching abilities for bright red cars with candy effects.
The improved formulation means you no longer need to follow the mandatory application method from the best practice guide for the previous 9184. This is a significant improvement which simplifies the application process while still delivering a high quality finish.
Generally, all formulas containing 9184 have been reformulated to contain the new 9214 toner. If you do find a formula that you wish to be updated, contact your DeBeer distributor or Valspar rep who will raise a request.

Depleting Existing Stock
To use your existing stock of 9184, open the history formulation. Remember to check the undercoat formulation before mixing and application.
Spectrophotometer News
5-Angle Spectro
If you have problems with your spectro giving extreme colour matches (e.g., giving green colour when white was measured), the date and time setting are probably wrong. If you need to change the date/time, you must then force a calibration immediately afterwards. If you are still experiencing colour accuracy issues, contact your Valspar Rep.
Remember that the 5-Angle spectro is not as robust as the old Valspar spectro - treat it like your new baby: WITH CARE.
Maintaining Your Spectro
In order to avoid costly repair and maintenance on your device, it is recommended that you:
- remove dirty gloves before handling the spectro
- store device in its carry case when not in use
- avoid overspray - this gets inside the unit and coats the lenses to affect colour accuracy
- avoid paint spills/droplets - keep away from mixing bench
- rubber matting on floor (in case dropped)
- never open the device to expose internal functionality – warranty will be voided
This kind of damage will take a considerable amount of time to repair and is costly.
Document Downloader
New Version
If you are updating ICRIS on computers with no internet connection, you will use Document Downloader to collate the latest SDS and TDS information to a file for transfer to your customer's computer.
Note that we have updated Document Downloader to iron out a few issues with a WebApi error. The latest version is 1.1.0.0 which is seen at the bottom toolbar of the Document Downloader homepage:
