#24 - DeBeer 1-404 Air Dry Clear Coat
The 1-404 Air Dry Clear Coat is a rapid drying 2K clear coat which is sprayed as a wet-on-wet application (without flash off between coats).
Designed for fast modern automotive repairs of up to 3 panels in size. It offers a fantastic appearance with superior flow and levelling.
Designed to air dry only it can typically be handled (e.g. a bumper fitted back onto a car) in as little as 45 min.
This air-dry feature without a need to bake can free up oven time for larger jobs and help increase overall job through-put in the paintshop.
"Speed Up"
Points to note:
- This clear coat is designed to be applied with a 2 coat (double header) WOW (wet-on-wet) application, therefore it is very resistant to sagging or running.
- If possible, allow to cure at an ambient room temp of e.g. 20°C.
- Has its own dedicated catalyst, 47-440 or 47-460.
- Mix ratio is 4:1 (0-5% reducer if needed).
Do not:
- Don't allow the 1st coat to flash off for before applying the 2nd coat, otherwise wrinkling may occur.
- Don't apply heat to the fresh (wet) coating as it will lose its gloss, it must be allowed to naturally air dry first.

Elevate
For customized SOP style documents ask DBNZ to do an ELEVATE version for your paint shop.
This incorporates the products and equipment that are used in your shop to create best practice as set by product TDS, Shop Owners and Paint Shop staff.
This will help to bring the understanding of what standards of repair are to be expected by all parties within the repair process, limit down time and speed up process.
